At the waste incinerator Energia, a crane is being reconstructed for lifting solid household waste.
According to Kyivteploenergo KP, the crane has been operating at the plant for more than 30 years around the clock, therefore, during the reconstruction, more than 90% of the parts will be replaced with new and modern ones with a hydraulic grab drive (lifting bucket), and they will also be equipped with an automated control system. This will ensure reliable and trouble-free operation of the equipment.
There are two such cranes at the factory; they are located above the solid waste bunker and are responsible for receiving, sorting and loading garbage into boilers for incineration. Cranes unload up to two thousand tons of waste daily. After completion of the reconstruction of the first crane, repairs will begin on the second.
“From the old equipment there will only be a crane bridge, which is still in good working condition. Install a new crane truck with the paths along which it moves. Almost the entire movable part of the crane is attached to the trolley, which will also be replaced. Previously, the lifting mechanism worked with cables, which were often torn and distorted. And now we are installing new equipment – a hydraulically driven grab that will allow us to lift up to five tons of garbage at a time and avoid emergency situations. After reconstruction, the crane will also consume significantly less electricity. We are also upgrading the control system of the lifting mechanism, which will greatly facilitate the process, ”said Sergey Krikun, director of the plant.
The reconstruction of the crane of the solid waste bunker is planned to be completed by October of this year.
