Zhytomyr Regional State Administration has agreed to lease 82.5 hectares of land for Ilmenite mining, required by PJSC “Crimean Titan” for the production of titanium, Ukrainian mass media reported with reference to the order of the chairman of the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration Igor Gundich.

We are talking about 82.5 hectares of land on the territory of the Lisivschinsky village council of Korosten district of the Zhytomyr region.

According to the appendix to the order of the chairman of the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, “Valki-ilmenite” will receive a plot for the validity period of the current regulatory and monetary assessment of the land. Provision is made for the rent – 9% of the regulatory and monetary valuation.

Earlier it was noted that on October 17, the president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, through his decree No. 467, extended sanctions against Russia. In the sanctions list, 335 physical and 167 legal entities were additionally included. LLC “Titanium investments” also fell under the sanctions. The companies prescribed the restriction of trade operations, the termination of transit of resources and transportation.

LLC “Titanium Investments” was registered in mid-June 2014 in Moscow. After the transition of the Crimea to the Russian Federation, D. Firtash had to adjust to Russian legislation in order to avoid the loss of Crimean assets. The businessman decided to move part of the business to Russia.

The company “Titanium Investments” is actually a subdivision of the “Crimean Titan” in Russia. The “Crimean Titan” itself was re-registered in Kiev and was renamed to “Yukreininan Chemical Products”. And in the autumn of 2014, the property of the “Crimean Titan” was transferred to long-term lease to the Russian LLC “Titanium Investments”.

Most likely, sanctions were imposed because of regular supplies of “Titanium Investments” LLC Ukrainian raw materials – ilmenite – to the Crimean assets of Firtash.

D. Firtash in Ukraine belongs to LLC “VALKI-ILMENIT.” This company sells ilmenite for the company “Titanium Investments”, which, in turn, imports it to the Crimea. However, in March of this year, by the decision of the court of the Firtash company, the Zhytomyr administrative court prohibited the development of the Strymigorod apatite-ilmenite deposit.
