Stavrolen, a major producer of polyolefins in the Russian Federation, stopped the production of low-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP) for short-term prevention, the ICIS-MRC Price Report said, citing a message from the company’s customers.
Stavrolen on April 1 stopped the work of capacity for the production of PP and HDPE for a planned short-term preventive maintenance. As the customers of the enterprise inform, simple capacities will last only 10 days.
According to the data of the ScanPlast company MRC, for the first two months of this year the production of polyethylene (PE) and PP at the Budyonovsky enterprise reached 40.1 thousand tons and 19.6 thousand tons, respectively.
Stavrolen (part of Lukoil’s structure) is Russia’s second-largest low-pressure polyethylene producer (PND) after Kazanorgsintez and the fifth largest polypropylene producer. Stavrolen’s capacity for production of low-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene is 300 thousand tons and 120 thousand tons per year, respectively.
