Spot prices of imported blown polyethylene (HDPE) in Europe in January reached a level of around EUR1 200 per tonne, DDP, ICIS reported, citing sources in the market.
In December, the price of imported HDPE were below EUR1 200, but now such proposals are irrelevant.
According to one large buyer, imports cu
rrently more expensive.
Europe is currently a net importer of HDPE blow after a series of closures in recent years, as the profitability of the sector was weak.
According to the price review ICIS-MRC, in Russia in late December on the spot market of the IPA continued decline in prices. Excess supply in the background of a serious reduction in demand had a strong pressure on prices. The largest decline in prices was noted in the segment of HDPE film, it is here of greatest oversupply.
