According to the results of the first seven months of this year, the total volume of polypropylene imports to the Ukrainian market was about 74 thousand tons, which is 9% more than in 2017. Demand for all types of propylene polymers has grown, according to the DataScope. In July, the volume of polypropylene imports to Ukraine increased to 13.2 thousand tons against 10.8 thousand tons a month earlier, the main increase in supplies was accounted for by homopolymer of propylene (PP homo). In general, for January-July the total volume of imports of propylene polymers reached the level of 74 thousand tons against 67.7 thousand tons a year earlier. Demand for all types of propylene polymers increased, with the largest increase in the stat-copolymer of propylene (PP-Random).
The structure of supplies by types of polypropylene during the period under review is as follows.
In July, external deliveries of propylene homopolymers to the Ukrainian market rose to 10.2 thousand tons against 8,000 tons a month earlier, local companies increased the purchases of PP-homo grade raffia. For seven months the total supply of PP homo reached 54.7 thousand tons against 51.6 thousand tons a year earlier.
Last month, the external supplies of propylene block copolymers (PP blocks) amounted to 1.3 thousand tons against 1.2 thousand tons in June. On the part of local companies, the demand for casting copolymers of propylene increased. During the period under review, about 7.7 thousand tons of block copolymers of propylene were imported, whereas a year earlier this figure was about 7.5 thousand tons.
In July, the import of propylene stat copolymers did not exceed the level of 1.5 thousand tons against 1.3 thousand tons a month earlier, demand for PPs from film manufacturers increased. According to the results of January – July of this year, the total import of PP-Rand exceeded the level of 10.2 thousand tons, whereas a year earlier this figure was about 7.4 thousand tons.
The total volume of supplies of other copolymers of propylene for the period under review was slightly more than 1.3 thousand tons.
