According to the results of the first four months of the year, the total volume of polyethylene imports to the Ukrainian market grew by 18% compared with the same indicator in 2018 and amounted to about 90.2 thousand tons. An increase in external supplies was recorded for virtually all types of ethylene polymers.

Last month, the external supply of polyethylene to Ukraine increased to 25.1 against 23.2 thousand tons in March, the supply volumes of all types of ethylene polymers increased except for low-pressure polyethylene (HDPE). In general, according to the results of January-April of the current year, the total volume of external supplies of polyethylene reached the level of 90.2 thousand tons against 76.5 thousand tons a year earlier. The external supply of all types of ethylene polymers increased, the largest increase in imports fell on the HDPE.

The structure of supplies by type of polyethylene for the period under review is as follows.

Last month, imports of low-pressure polyethylene decreased to 9.6 thousand tons against 10.3 thousand tons in March, the reduction in supplies fell on film polyethylene. In general, in the first four months of the year, the total volume of imports of HDPE reached 33.3 thousand tons against 23.9 thousand tons a year earlier.

The April figure for imports of high-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) was about 6.9 thousand tons against 6.8 thousand tons a month earlier. During the period under review, the total volume of LDPE imports reached a level of 26.5 thousand tons, which is 8% more than in 2018.

Last month, the external supply of linear polyethylene (LDL) amounted to about 7.5 thousand tons against 5.2 thousand tons in March. In general, in January-April of this year, the total import of LDL rose to 25.9 thousand tons against 23.7 thousand tons a year earlier.

Imports of other types of polyethylene, including ethylene vinyl acetate, during the period under review amounted to about 4.5 thousand tons compared to 4.4 thousand tons a year earlier.
