The April contract ethylene prices in Europe was agreed at EUR10 per tonne above the level of March, but in some cases, the European producers, on the contrary, went to the decrease in the polyethylene prices (PE) or a prolongation of the March level for deliveries to the CIS countries, according to a price review ICIS-MRC .
Negotiations on the April deliveries of PE from Europe to the markets of the CIS countries started last week. The increase in the cost of ethylene in the region did not cause a rise in export prices for polyethylene for buyers from the CIS, on the contrary, some producers went to reduce PE prices for the April shipments.
Negotiations on April shipments of low-density polyethylene (HDPE) were conducted in the range of EUR 1 000-1 080 per tonne, FCA, which essentially corresponds to the March deals, although some producers still raised export prices, but they still remained within the general range.
Prices of black PE100 in most cases still increased by EUR10-15 per tonne and were discussed in the range EUR1 285-1 340 per tonne, FCA.
Transactions on the April shipments of European high-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) last week were agreed in the range EUR1,090-1,130 per tonne, FCA, which is EUR10-20 per tonne lower than the level of March.
Also, on average, the price of hexene linear polyethylene (LDL C6) increased by EUR 10 per tonne for the April deliveries. Transactions were discussed in the range EUR1 370-1 430 per tonne, FCA.
