Negotiations on the sale of lots of Chinese brands of bottled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) are currently held at a historically low level – below the level observed in late 2008 and early 2016, ICIS said.

So, some negotiations are in the range of USD725-730 per tonne, FOB China, since the futures of raw materials – refined terephthalic acid TPA) in China continue to decline.

Spot PET quotes last week amounted to USD725-750 per tonne, FOB China, when upstream prices went down.

According to the ICIS-MRC Price Survey, last week the influence of two opposing trends on the Russian market sharply increased. On the one hand, a sharp increase in the dollar against the ruble puts upward pressure on the value of Russian PET. On the other hand, a decline in Asian quotes has a downward effect; prices dipped last week.
