The July contract price of ethylene in Europe was agreed at EUR15 per tonne below the level of June. Nevertheless, European producers intend to keep the export prices of polyethylene (PE) for July supplies to the CIS countries at the level of June, according to the ICIS-MRC Price Review.
Negotiations on the July supply of PE from Europe to the markets of the CIS countries started on Monday. But the decline in the cost of ethylene in the region did not lead to a proportional decrease in the export prices of polyethylene. European manufacturers have announced the prolongation of June prices for the current month for all types of ethylene polymers.
Negotiations on July shipments of low-density polyethylene (HDPE) were conducted in the range EUR1 080-1 155 per tonne, FCA, which actually corresponds to the June price level. Small restrictions on the supply are from individual manufacturers, but they are not critical for most buyers.
Prices of black PE100 also remained unchanged and were discussed in the range EUR1 360 -1 415 per tonne, FCA. The offer of this polyethylene in July increased noticeably after two months of serious restrictions on shipments.
Transactions on July shipments of European high-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) were agreed in the range EUR1,080-1,150 per tonne, FCA, as a month earlier.
