The imports of low-density polyethylene (HDPE) to the European market increased by 3.07% in January this year compared to the same month of the previous year – to 96.55 thousand tonnes, ICIS reported with reference to the statistical agency Eurostat.

In January, 2017, this indicator was at the level of 93.68 thousand tons.

Meanwhile, the export of IPA from Europe to other world markets increased by 23.31% over the reporting period and amounted to 86.399 thousand tons against 70.07 thousand tons in January 2017.

Earlier it was noted that the import of ethylene (raw materials for polyethylene production) to the European market increased in January 2018 by 1.64% compared to the same period a year earlier – to 22.88 thousand tons.

According to DataScope of the company MRC, in February, external supplies of HDPE to Russia increased to 17.5 thousand tons against 17.2 thousand tons a month, local companies slightly increased the volume of purchases of HDPE in Uzbekistan. In general, for January-February of 2018, the total volume of imports of HDPE in Russia reached 34.7 thousand tons against 24.7 thousand tons a year earlier, the volume of polyethylene deliveries from Uzbekistan and Finland increased significantly.
