Rescuers put out the fire for almost 10 hours.

On May 4, at 15:46, employees of the LLC “Garbage processing factory” called the Salvation Service and reported a fire in the open area of ​​the plant where solid household waste was stored.

To the place of the fire were sent forces and means of 5 fire-rescue units of the SSES. The fire managed to spread to an area of ​​700 square meters, the press service of the State Emergency Situations Service in the Kharkov region reported.

“It’s rather difficult to extinguish such fires, because when burning solid waste the fire spreads quickly inside the garbage dump and on its surface, while the burning of garbage is accompanied by a large amount of toxic smoke and, as a consequence, the smoke from a significant area around,” said the assistant to the head of the regional state administration of the State Emergency Service Igor Lupandin.

To extinguish the fire rescuers were given 5 fire barrels, including 1 gun.

At half past midnight the firemen managed to localize the fire. Now works are under way for complete liquidation. On site there are 5 units of fire fighting equipment and 30 personnel of the SSNS personnel, as well as 16 engineering units of the waste processing plant.
