The original contract price of expandable polystyrene (EPS-C) were agreed at the October delivery on EUR45-50 per tonne lower compared to the previous month, while price negotiations are continuing, sources told ICIS market.

On the market there was talk about a very competitive price in Eastern Europe, but the real deals have been no reports, buyers said.

Demand remained at an acceptable level of October with a sufficient number of orders, although it was expected that it will be higher than in September, when demand was relatively low.

Source market noted that the weather conditions at the moment do not create any problems for the demand. However, according to him, the situation can change at any moment, which immediately affect the level of orders.

In September, the brand of EPS for the production of packaging were on the level of EUR1 490-1 515 per tonne FD NWE (North-Eastern Europe), while the price range for high-impact brand was EUR1 500-1 520 per tonne FD NWE. Refractory same brand traded near EUR1 510-1 545 per tonne FD NWE.

According to the price review ICIS-MRC, the Russian market spot prices of EPS last week remained stable. According to sources in the market, prices are not revised as trading companies that sell imported brands of EPS, as well as manufacturers of EPS in Russia. At the same time, some market players allow the price increase in the future against the backdrop of force majeure on the styrene market in Asia and the growth of prices.
