PJSC “Nizhnekamskneftekhim” in cooperation with the enterprises of Tatarstan is developing a new direction – the production of bimodal polyethylene for power cable sheath. Nizhnekamsk polyethylene could be applied as an alternative to imported materials in the production of power cables. These are the results of comparing the quality indicators of the brand polyethylene RE6146KM with import analogues, as well as the positive results of the process applied to the cable company “Tatkabel”.
On the results of the joint work with “Tatkabel” and RCI Himteh research and polyethylene tests for the outer sheath of power cables specialists of PJSC “Nizhnekamskneftekhim” reported on the forum “Polymers – import substitution in the cable industry”, which took place September 8, 2016 in the framework of the XXIII Tatarstan petrochemical offline. The forum was organized by RT Ministry of Industry, with the participation of representatives of PJSC “Nizhnekamskneftekhim”, PJSC “Kazanorgsintez” Plant “Tatkabel” RCI Himteh, “Kama plant polymer materials”, KNRTU and others. Experts discussed the possibility of using certain brands of domestic polyethylene, which produce PAO ” Nizhnekamskneftekhim “and PAO” Kazanorgsintez “in the production of power cables to replace imported materials.

Research and testing Nizhnekamsk bimodal polyethylene continues to date of the four stages of the planned works carried out three. Expected completion of the test – the end of September 2016.
