The report titled “Biodegradable plastic and marine debris: misconceptions, fears and the impact on the marine environment” includes the statement that oxo-biodegradable plastics do not decompose in the marine environment quickly enough and, consequently, plastic products will continue to pollute the sea and have a negative impact.
Consumers may mistakenly come to the conclusion that the product is completely biodegradable plastic decomposes and should not be disposed of properly.
