New precompound type Vamac® AEM currently undergo evaluation test manufacturers and suppliers of various products. It is expected that these materials, having a lower specific gravity and lower cost, is an alternative to fluorinated elastomers (FKM) when operating in the temperature range from 160°C to 190°C, especially in those cases where the standard acrylic, ethylene vinyl acetate or ethylene-acrylic elastomers are no longer considered.
Head of international marketing Mr. Patrick Kazuk (Patrick Cazuc) noted that the product Vamac® VMX5000 was designed to meet the immediate demand of the automotive industry for materials that can withstand more aggressive environments near the engines. The new product will help to solve new problems with new technologies in the automotive industry. These problems are the result of a decreasing trend in the volume of the combustion chambers of engines and the use of turbocharging to reduce emissions of CO2 and fuel economy. The use of Vamac® VMX5000 for the production of hoses and seals that can withstand increasingly high temperatures and chemically aggressive environment near the engines, is an effective and economical solution.
DuPont Performance Polymers has also launched a new dual polymer under the trademark Vamac® VMX2122 AEM designed for use in the manufacture of cables and wires. This product has improved physical properties and better processability than the currently used dual type polymers AEM DP. In addition, the material Vamac® VMX2122 AEM has high colour stability. It also complies with the requirements of the standards for terpolymers (the products of copolymerization of the three monomers) used for the manufacture of hoses and seals and can therefore be used where it is impossible to use terpolymers, cured with diamine
