БезымянныйThe national forum “waste management in Ukraine: legislation, economy, technologies” will be held on November 22-23, 2016 in Kiev, reports .

The event will be held under the auspices of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on environmental policy, nature resources utilization and elimination the consequences of Chernobyl catastrophe, Ministry of regional development, construction and housing and communal services of Ukraine, Ministry of ecology and natural resources of Ukraine, Kyiv city state administration and the National ecological Council of Ukraine.

The purpose of the Forum is determining in Ukraine problems and prospects of formation of the Strategy of hazardous waste management, implementing environmental initiatives, to promote investment and innovation, implementation of environmentally friendly, resource- and energy-efficient technologies at the local level, development of recommendations for comprehensive solutions to municipal and regional problems in the field of waste management, promotion of cooperation of state authorities, local governments, public organizations, science, business, the formation of the regulatory legal base in the sphere of hazardous waste management, building and strengthening of international cooperation, preservation of the environment, implementing the principles of sustainable development of territorial communities in Ukraine.

We will remind, Ukraine has accumulated more than 12 billion tons of waste, including 12 million tonnes of hazardous. However, three years was not allocated a single penny from the State budget for solving problems in this area.

As previously reported , the test MEP is not passed 80% of the enterprises-utilizers of hazardous waste.

“After the adoption of this resolution of the company in this area has been 2 months to organize its activities in accordance with the new legislation. From 16 September the Ministry of ecology received the right to monitor the activities of these companies.

According to General statistics, which we now have, with those companies who owned the relevant licenses and that from 16 September to 1 November passed these checks, about 80 percent do not meet the requirements. This companies ‘ licenses were revoked,” – said the Minister.
