The mayor of Lviv, Andrei Sadovaya, ordered the State Council deputies to study European waste recycling plants and ensure their safety. Lviv Mayor Andrei Sadovy ordered to prepare a trip of city council deputies to Europe to inspect the operation of waste recycling plants. This is the Internet portal Zaxid.net.
At a meeting of the city council on April 25, the chairman of the city council, Andrei Sadovaya, ordered to organize a trip of local deputies to Europe, where they should verify the safety of waste recycling plants.

“There are deputies who have seen such complexes, but there are those who have not seen, and they fall under the harmful effects. I propose those deputies who have not seen [how the waste processing complex works – approx. ed.], form into groups and send to Brest, to Lisbon – to whom it is much closer. Council Secretariat, urgently form 2-3 working groups to go to work. This is a very serious question, ”said Sadovy.

In turn, the head of the municipal enterprise “Green City” Vadim Nozdry ordered to build a schedule of such visits.

“There are locations that would be interesting and useful to see. In Tel Aviv, a recycling plant is located in the city and near the reclaimed landfill, which has now been turned into a park. In Sofia in Bulgaria is very clean and tidy complex, which is also impressive. Therefore, I accept this assignment and take into the work of forming a travel program, ”said Nozdrya.

Earlier, we reported that journalists, with the help of a drone, videotaped the place where they want to build a waste processing facility in Lviv. The plant will be built on the territory of CHPP-2. The video shows that there is enough space for the construction of another third industrial giant of the city – a garbage processing complex.

Here this enterprise will definitely not have trouble with infiltrates and utilization of sorted and specially prepared garbage. There is a place for composting organic waste. It is noticeable that part of the territory has already begun to fall asleep with earth, obviously preparing the ground for the first stage of waste processing.

However, in 2018, residents of Lviv staged a picket near the Lviv City Council, speaking out against the construction of a waste recycling plant on Plastovaya Street 13. The main condition of the people is that the construction should be moved outside the city limits.

So, residents of Krivchitsy microdistricts, Lychakivsky and Ascension district, organized a picket, as they consider that it is unacceptable to build a waste recycling plant near residential buildings. Moreover, people think that there are already a lot of industrial enterprises around their homes.

“Near our homes in our neighborhood there are a lot of enterprises that harm our health, the health of our children. Unfortunately, no one thinks about it. We demand that deputies withdraw this decision. People are very radical. Such a plant should be outside the city, ”said a resident of Lviv, one of the participants in the picket. In addition, people organized a collection of signatures against the construction of a waste recycling plant on Plastovaya Street.

Construction of the plant is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2018. Several such plants will be built within the city – such measures were taken within the framework of last year’s critical situation in Lviv. Then, due to the closure of the Gribovichsky landfill, garbage from many parts of the city was not taken out for a month, since all the landfills were overcrowded. The “garbage scandal” had an impact on the situation in the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers, after all, the garbage from the city, which already on warm spring days began to cause inconvenience not only with sight, but also with smell, was transported to various dumps in the region.
