One of the priorities of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine is the creation of a new integrated environmental inspection, which will combine all the control functions of the Ministry and other departments, to the end of 2016.

He told the head of the Ministry of Ecology Semerak during a meeting with representatives of business associations. “One of the priorities of the Ministry of Environment, which we have set ourselves before the end of 2016 – is the creation of an integrated environmental inspection. Let’s be honest, that the Environmental Inspectorate in its present form – is the wrong tool, which should work in Ukraine. We decided to combine all the monitoring and control functions, which exist today in various organs, in one integrated body “- Semerak said.

The minister also stressed the importance of updating the staff of a future inspection. “We need to fully upgrade the staff of the inspection, carry out competitive selection, training … Today in ekoinspektsii has 2 700 people that have paid for 2000 UAH per month. This rate motivates people to seek illegal income “, – added the head of the Ministry of Environment. Semerak said that the powers ekoinspektsii need to enable the features that today has a number of other government agencies.

“The government needs to integrate into a new inspection of the control functions of the State Service of Geology and mineral resources, the State Agency of Fisheries, the State Agency of forest resources and the State Inspectorate of Agriculture,” – added the Minister. Also the head of the Ministry of Environment said that until mid-July his department plans to prepare a first draft, which will regulate the work of the new ekoinspektsii.
“This question is already working the working group. We set ourselves the task to mid-July to introduce the package of a new inspection of the documents to begin the process of inter-ministerial coordination, “- said Semerak.

As UNIAN reported earlier, May 5 Semerak instructed to dismiss the head of the State Environmental Inspection of Ukraine in Ivano-Frankivsk region Igor Stefurak for ignoring the massive illegal deforestation in the region. June 8 director of the Kiev Ecological and Cultural Center Vladimir Boreyko said that the prosecutor’s office and the State Environmental Inspectorate in Ivano-Frankivsk region are inactive in the fight against illegal construction in the National Natural Park “Hutsul”.
