The situation with garbage disposal worsened in the city.

In Lviv, 7,580 tons of solid household waste were not removed, 5,440 tons of them lie on the ground, the press service of the Lviv city council reported, UNIAN reports. The city commission on issues of technological and ecological safety and emergency situations took a number of urgent measures to prevent the deterioration of the city’s sanitary condition due to the impossibility of garbage disposal.

Among them – to prepare an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on declaring the territory of the city of Lviv a zone of emergency environmental situation. The commission also decided to recommend the Lviv city head to Andrei Sadovoy to appeal to the public of the city of Lviv, international organizations and diplomatic missions to approach the threatening situation of an epidemic nature in the administrative territories of the Lviv city council. “The situation with garbage disposal is critical.

Today there are 428 container sites in Lviv, which is 35% of the total. The total amount of waste within the city is 7,580 tons, of which 5,440 tons lie on the ground. Earlier Lviv mayor Andrei Sadovy proposed to create a backup landfill in the Chernobyl zone. Garden also said that as a city head of Lviv is ready to finance the creation of such a landfill at the expense of the city community.
