Initial November contract price of polystyrene (PS) in the European market were agreed at EUR40 per tonne higher than in the previous month, the increase was proportional to the increased raw material quotations – styrene monomer, told ICIS market sources.

According to sources, the demand in November was stable, while the number of orders increased last week, although it was not exactly high in early November.

In addition, increased quotes PS in Asia also supported the competitiveness of European material in the export markets.

In the second week of November contract prices of PS in the European market were at the level of EUR1 895-2 015 per tonne FD Europe for general purpose polystyrene (PSS / M) and the level of EUR1 985-2 105 per tonne FD Europe for high-impact polystyrene (HIPS / M ).

According to the price review ICIS-MRC, the Russian market of polystyrene spot prices continued to rise last week. The price rise both imported and domestic brands UPS / M and MSS / M. Also importers noted an increase in the cost of European brands polystyrene due to the growth of export producers’ prices in Europe for November shipments to Russia.
