IMG_0600According to the results of the first two months of the year, the total volume of imports of polypropylene (PP) to Ukraine increased by 3% compared to the same period in 2016 and amounted to 18.1 thousand tons. At the same time, only supplies of homopolymers of propylene (PP homo) and block copolymers of propylene (PP block) have increased, according to a report by DataScope of the company MRC.

In February, the volume of imports of PP to Ukraine, despite the low season, rose to 9.8 thousand tons against 8.3 thousand tons a month earlier. In general, for January-February of this year the total volume of imports of propylene polymers grew to 18.1 thousand tons against 17.6 thousand tons a year earlier. The greatest increase in external supplies fell on the PP block, while the demand for the stat-copolymers of propylene (PP-random) declined.

The structure of supplies by types of PP for the period under consideration is as follows.

Last month, external deliveries of propylene homopolymers to the Ukrainian market rose to 7.8 thousand tonnes, while in January this figure was 6.6 thousand tonnes. Local companies have increased the supply of PP-homo grade raffia and injection PP-homo. For the first two months, the total supply of PP homo exceeded 14.3 thousand tons compared to 13.6 thousand tons a year earlier.

In February, the external supplies of propylene block copolymers amounted to less than 900 tons compared to 1 thousand tons a month earlier. Local companies have gone on reducing the volume of imports of the pipe PP-block. During the period under consideration, 1.9 thousand tons of block copolymers of propylene were imported, whereas in the previous year this figure was 1.6 thousand tons. The greatest increase in demand was shown by local pipe producers.

Last month, imports of propylene copolymers to Ukraine rose to 923 tons against 637 tons in January, local companies significantly increased the volumes of pipe and film brands. According to the results of January-February, the total import volume of PP-Random has approached the level of 1.6 thousand tons, whereas a year earlier this figure was just over 2 thousand tons.

The total volume of supplies of other copolymers of propylene during the period under review was 376 tons.
