Import supplies of low-density polyethylene (HDPE) to the Chinese market in February this year decreased by 32% compared to the same month last year – up to 381.23 thousand tons, ICIS reported, citing official data of the Chinese customs.
As compared to January 2018, this indicator showed a decrease of 43%.
At the same time, the export of IPA from China to foreign markets fell by 66% in the reporting month against February 2017 and amounted to 5.37 thousand tons, and compared to January 2018, the February export of material decreased by 44%.
Earlier it was noted that the import of ethylene – raw material for the production of polyethylene (PE) – to the Chinese market in February grew by 9% compared to the same month a year ago and amounted to 206.5 thousand tons, and in relation to the first month of 2018 this the indicator, on the contrary, showed a decrease of 9%.
According to DataScope of the company MRC, in February, external supplies of HDPE to Russia increased to 17.5 thousand tons against 17.2 thousand tons a month, local companies slightly increased the volume of purchases of HDPE in Uzbekistan. In general, for January-February of 2018, the total volume of imports of HDPE in Russia reached 34.7 thousand tons against 24.7 thousand tons a year earlier, the volume of polyethylene deliveries from Uzbekistan and Finland increased significantly.
