At the end of last year, the total volume of polypropylene imports to the Ukrainian market amounted to about 132 thousand tons, which actually corresponds to the indicator of 2018. At the same time, it is worth noting that an increase in deliveries was noted only for propylene block copolymers (PP block)

In December, the volume of polypropylene imports to Ukraine decreased to 8.6 thousand tons compared to 11.1 thousand tons a month earlier, local companies reduced their purchases of propylene homopolymers (PP-homo) in the Middle East due to surplus in the domestic market. In general, for the whole of 2019, the total volume of imports of propylene polymers reached 132 thousand tons compared to 132.3 thousand tons a year earlier. The increase in imports fell on the PP block, while the demand for other propylene polymers remained at the level of 2018.

The supply structure by types of polypropylene for the period under review is as follows.

In December, foreign supplies of propylene homopolymers to the Ukrainian market decreased due to lower purchases in the Middle East under pressure from a surplus in the domestic market and amounted to about 6.3 thousand tons against 8.3 thousand tons a month earlier. Over the past year, the total supply of PP-homo reached 100.2 thousand tons against 100.6 thousand tons a year earlier.

Last month, the indicator of external deliveries of propylene block copolymers amounted to about 925 tons compared to 1 thousand tons in November. During the period under review, about 14 thousand tons of propylene block copolymers were imported, while a year earlier this figure was about 13.4 thousand tons.

In December, imports of propylene stat copolymers (PP-random) fell to 1.3 thousand tons compared to 1.6 thousand tons a month due to lower demand for pipe polypropylene. At the end of 2019, the total volume of PP-random imports reached the level of 16 thousand tons, which corresponds to the indicator for 2018.

The total volume of deliveries of other propylene copolymers for the period under review amounted to about 1.9 thousand tons against 2.4 thousand tons a year earlier.
