256222For tragedies such as Lviv, responsible officials could face up to 10 years

Sloppy Ukrainians allow themselves to throw garbage wherever they want to strictly prevent. The Verkhovna Rada came a bill №5565, providing a significant increase in fines and even imprisonment for the “garbage” violations.

In particular, failure to comply with the rules of waste management at the time of collection, transportation, treatment and disposal could face a fine of 100-200 non-taxable minimum (1,7-3,4 thousand. UAH.). And, 100-150 lows pay ordinary citizens, and to 200 entrepreneurs.

Now the penalties for such offenses range from 50 to 100 non-taxable minima (850-1700 UAH.).

If violations of waste rules will lead to environmental pollution and harm to human health, the penalties for individuals grow to 200 lows (3.4 thousand. UAH.), And for businesses can be up to 1 thousand. Non-taxable minimum (17 thousand . UAH.).

It is worth noting that in the current legislation, an article is absent. Now there is no “junk” and articles in the Criminal Code.

The author of the new bill Volodymyr Parasyuk (vnefraktsionnyh) proposes to correct this oversight. In the present edition it is proposed to include in the Criminal Code of deprivation of liberty for a term of 5 to 10 years are guilty of improperly disposed waste, which resulted in significant damage to the environment or loss of life. And for concealing information about the dangers of junk for nature or people guilty could face up to three years and a ban to hold executive positions within the same time.

The explanatory note of the bill author points out that the problem of waste disposal, which has always been relevant for Ukraine, recently acquired a special urgency. Existing landfills are already overcrowded, they poison the waters, land, contribute to the spread of disease, and sometimes, as, for example. in the sensational case in Lviv – lead to large-scale environmental disasters and loss of lives.

Ordinary Ukrainians, do not hesitate, warehoused their garbage wherever they can – in the woods, near the river, etc. Existing legislation MP considers too soft and not able to eliminate the threat of “trash collapse.”.
