БезымянныйEuropean polyethylene market (PE) focused on the January supply since mid-December, sources told ICIS market.

The December rates of PE were largely adjusted in accordance with a reduction in the contract price of ethylene at EUR30 per tonne, but since the middle of this month in the European market players carried predzakupki amid expectations of increasing the January ethylene prices.

At present, market players expect that material prices will rise by EUR30-50 per tonne, taking into account the increased raw material prices. Since the last contract negotiation ethylene prices of crude oil and naphtha quotation increased and continue its upward trend.

According to the price review ICIS-MRC, in Russia last week, buying activity in the local PE market was very low. Most of the local processors have closed all of its transactions for the December supplies of PE. The processors have started to prepare for the New Year holidays. In the market of high-density polyethylene (LDPE), the price situation remained unchanged. We started negotiations on PE January contract prices.
