The August contract price of ethylene in Europe was agreed at EUR20 per tonne below the level of July. However, European manufacturers of polyethylene (PE), in many cases, went to greater reduction in the export price of the polymer, according to a price review ICIS-MRC.

Negotiations on the European export prices of PE began on Monday, many market participants have concluded a further (fourth consecutive month) decline in export prices for European producers. In August, in some cases, the decline in prices up to EUR50 per ton, while the ethylene fell by EUR20 per tonne.

Transactions on August shipment of high density polyethylene (HDPE) are in the range of EUR1 070-1 150 per tonne, FCA, while the transactions were concluded in July EUR1 070-1 170 per tonne range, FCA. Negotiations on the supply pipe of black PE100 are carried out in the range of EUR1 230- 1270 per tonne FCA.

Transactions regarding the August shipments of high-density polyethylene (LDPE) are discussed in the range of EUR1 140 – 1 200 per tonne, FCA, while a month earlier transaction for the supply of this type of PE EUR1 consistent in the range 180-1 250 per tonne, FCA. The individual company reported that during the whole of July they occasionally buy more small amounts of LDPE at prices EUR1 050 – 1080 per tonne, FCA.
