“We expect that by 2030 will be introduced nine more facilities for the production of heavy polymers. This will allow to create about 7 million jobs. The total investment will amount to more than 2.2 trillion rubles. This will allow to increase production of heavy polymers and overcome them import dependence,” said the Minister.
According to him, in recent years, the Russian petrochemical industry there is a positive trend. From 2010 to 2014 production of petrochemical raw materials rose by 9.6 million tons per year, production volume of heavy polymers increased by 0.9 million tonnes or 27%.
Alexander Novak said that the development of the petrochemical industry in Russia is proceeding according to the Strategy 2030, which is expected to be finalized by the fall of 2015. “In accordance with the approved Strategy for the development of petrochemical industry will be implemented in six clusters. The largest projects intended to implement, there are projects of construction of gas pipeline “Power of Siberia and South Balyk – Cherepovets, joint projects of Gazprom and SIBUR in the Amur region with the capacity to 2.4 million tons of polyethylene per year, in Cherepovets capacity of 1.5 million tons of polyethylene per year, as well as petrochemical complex in the far East with a capacity of 0.9 million tonnes of polyethylene and 0.7 PP in the year,” the Minister said.
As reported Market report earlier, according to Alexander Novak, the deficit of polyethylene in Russia, which now amounts to 400 thousand tons, will be eliminated in a few years. According to him, it will be excluded due to the commissioning of projects at the Novy Urengoy mining and chemical plant in Angarsk factory of polymers during the 2017-2019 years, and from 2019 for polyethylene after introduction of the plant to Tobolsk petrochemical plant with a capacity of 1.5 million tons of polyethylene per year will be sustainable surplus.
