A report published in January 2021 by AMI Consulting focuses on the twin screw extruder market, as they are commonly used to process engineering plastics, styrene, polypropylene, TPE and masterbatches.
These machines achieve capacities ranging from about 100 kg / h to 10 t / h.
The fastest growing area of application for this technique is recycling. AMI predicts that demand in this area will more than double between 2020 and 2024. In this segment, more than 50% of cars sold in 2020 worldwide were delivered to China, which demonstrates China’s ability to recycle low-value waste. However, in terms of the value of cars sold, Europe is the largest market, which AMI explains by the preference of investors to buy cars with higher technological characteristics.
In 2020, the market has weakened due to the coronavirus pandemic. AMI expects a quick recovery in the extruder market, however as new markets emerge, geographic shifts create more demand and manufacturers are forced to invest in more powerful machines to stay competitive.
