Karpatneftekhim (Kalush, Ukraine) and Nouryon (formerly AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals) signed a licensing agreement to use CiD technology in the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), this was reported in a press release from Nouryon.
“Nouryon will grant a license for its innovative CiD technology to Karpatneftekhim, Ukraine’s largest producer of polyvinyl chloride (PVC),” the report says.
Nouryon’s patented CiD technology allows PVC manufacturers to increase reactor equipment productivity by up to 40%, improve product quality and make the production process more secure, the report says.
“The agreement with Karpatneftekhim once again confirms our strong position in the PVC market,” said Johan Landfors, managing director of Polymer Chemistry. “Many customers have switched to CiD technology, and we expect that interest in this technology will continue to grow, as more and more users are aware of its benefits.”
“Nouryon’s CiD technology provides unique advantages for us and our customers,” added Ivan Pidsadyuk, CEO of Karpatneftekhim.
Karpatneftekhim has ethylene production capacity of 250 thousand tons per year, in polyvinyl chloride – 300 thousand tons per year, caustic soda – 200 thousand tons, in polyethylene – 100 thousand tons per year.
