In the first phase, LanzaTech captures industrial carbon emissions and converts them into ethanol using a complex biological process. Next, Total joins the process using an innovative dehydration process developed in partnership with IFP Axens to convert ethanol to ethylene and polymerize it to polyethylene.<br \/>\nThe resulting product has the same technical characteristics as its fossil fuel counterpart. In the last step, L&#8217;Or\u00e9al uses polyethylene for packaging.<br \/>\nL&#8217;Or\u00e9al, LanzaTech and Total are currently exploring the possibility of increasing production of new environmentally friendly plastics.
