The Prosecutor General\u2019s Office, the Security Service and the State Bureau of Investigation conducted a search of the head of the State Ecological Inspectorate of Ukraine Igor Yakovlev. Law enforcement officers searched the office and the official\u2019s house. As evidenced by the determination of the Pechersk District Court, Yakovlev is accused of taking possession of funds on an especially large scale. We are talking about 15 million hryvnias that were allocated for the disposal of hazardous waste. \u201cThe pre-trial investigation found that during 2016-2019, officials of Ukrgasdobycha JSC, as well as officials of the GPU Poltavgazdobycha company division, together with representatives of state authorities and state control bodies, developed and implemented a criminal scheme for embezzlement of funds of Ukrgasdobycha JSC , – stated in the court ruling.<\/p>\n

During the searches, law enforcement authorities seized documentation and electronic information carriers confirming illegal transactions. As reported, on September 11, the SBU exposed Ukrgasvydobuvannya officials in the appropriation of funds during the disposal of hazardous waste. Law enforcers have established that representatives of the commercial structure, “in agreement” with the management of Ukrgasvydobuvannya and the inaction of officials of the State Environmental Inspection, created a scheme for obtaining undue benefits. Funds were appropriated during the implementation of drilling waste disposal agreements in the Poltava region. The actions of attackers also damaged the ecology of the region.<\/p>\n
