The fall of the contract price was expected due to lower prices of styrene in the spot market in September. Thus one of the main consumers of styrene refused to accept the price in October, saying that they do not reflect the real market trend.<\/p>\n

Although, given the onset of the peak season for expanded polystyrene on a background of recovery in the construction sector, some players believe that this price is reasonable, taking into account the longer delivery time imports from the United States.<\/p>\n

One of the traders said that, given the spot quotations in Asia and Europe at the moment, we can hardly expect the imports before the second half of October.<\/p>\n

In addition, many of styrene in Asia and the Middle East in the fourth quarter closed for scheduled repairs. If it will affect the growth of prices in Asia, the volume of exports from the US to Europe will be reduced.<\/p>\n

While it remains unknown whether these factors will limit the supply of styrene in Europe.<\/p>\n

European spot styrene prices fell slightly this week after a slight rise at the end of September. Tuesday, September 29, spot styrene prices for deliveries in October amounted to USD935 per ton, FOB, but then decreased up to USD900 per tonne. Several transactions were zakyucheny at USD890 per tonne.<\/p>\n
