In August this year, exports of polyethylene in Ukraine decreased to 7.6 thousand tons compared to 10.9 thousand tons a month earlier due to reduction of volume of imports of injection moulding HDPE from manufacturers of caps for PET containers. Overall, in January – August of the current year the total volume of imports of HDPE decreased to 60.2 thousand tons compared to 62.7 thousand tons a year earlier. The largest fall in demand had to polyethylene for extrusion blow molding (EBM bands).<\/p>\n

Supply structure by sectors of consumption during the period under review are as follows.<\/p>\n

Last month, the external supply of HDPE film on the Ukrainian market were actually stored at the level of July and amounted to about 4.4 thousand tons. In General, during the first eight months of the year, the total volume of imports of polyethylene film increased to 29.6 thousand tons, which is 11% higher than 2014.<\/p>\n

The August index of imports of injection moulding HDPE in Ukraine fell to 1.1 thousand tons compared to 3.1 tons in July. Such a significant reduction in supply was due to lower demand in the manufacturing sector caps for PET containers. In January – August 2015 the demand for this type of polyethylene by local processors decreased by 6% and amounted to 11.2 thousand tons.<\/p>\n

Last month the rate of external supplies of high-density polyethylene for extrusion blow molding (EBM bands) was approximately 1.1 thousand tons, which is comparable with the July. During the review period, imports of HDPE for ECM in Ukraine amounted to about 8.7 thousand tons, which is 28% lower than the same indicator 2014.<\/p>\n

In August, the indicator external supply pipe high-density polyethylene (taking into account natural brands HDPE) was reduced to 1 thousand tonnes from 1.6 tonnes due to limited export quotas from European and Russian manufacturers. During the period of the external delivery of this type of polyethylene on the Ukrainian market were reduced to 8.7 thousand tons, which is 9% less than in 2014.<\/p>\n
