The state of Tamil Nadu has decided to ban the use of non-degradable plastic from 2019<\/p>\n

India daily produces 25.9 thousand tons of plastic waste
\nIndian Health and Welfare Minister Hars Vardhan promised that by 2022 the country would completely abandon the use of disposable plastic. This June 6 wrote the Times of India.<\/p>\n

“India of our dreams will be free from disposable plastic,” Vardhan said during a speech at the Vijyan Bhavan conference center.<\/p>\n

His statement Wardhan made on June 5, on World Environment Day. Speaking after Vardhan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India will join the UN initiative against marine debris – Clean Seas Campaign.<\/p>\n

On the same day, the Indian state of Tamil Nadu announced the ban on the use of non-degradable plastic from 2019.<\/p>\n

According to official data, daily India produces 25.9 thousand tons of plastic waste and 97 thousand tons of solid waste.<\/p>\n

The usual plastic decomposes from 100 to 200 years. Due to pollution of the seas, the material is increasingly found inside animals: for example, it is swallowed by dolphins and seals. Large plastic retail chains, such as French Auchan or British supermarkets Iceland, are increasingly abandoning plastic bags.<\/p>\n
