Most of all, demand for a stat-copolymer of propylene (PP-Random) has increased, according to a report by DataScope of the company MRC. In February, the volume of imports of PP to Ukraine fell to 8.9 thousand tons against 9.9 thousand tons a month earlier, a decrease in supplies was noted in the segment of homopolymers of propylene (PP homo). In general, for January-February the total volume of imports of propylene polymers reached the level of 18.7 thousand tons against 18.1 thousand tons a year earlier. The demand for propylene copolymers increased, with the largest increase in PP-Rand.

The structure of supplies by types of PP for the period under review is as follows.

In February, external deliveries of propylene homopolymers to the Ukrainian market fell to 6.5 thousand tons against 7.5 thousand tons a month earlier. The main reduction in deliveries was in PP-homo raffia from Saudi Arabia. For the first two months, the total supplies of PP homo reached 14 thousand tons, which is 2% less than a year earlier.

In February, the external supplies of propylene block copolymers (PP blocks) amounted to less than 1 thousand tons, which is 10% lower than a month earlier. On the part of local companies, the demand for propylene copolymers decreased. During the period under review, about 2 thousand tons of block copolymers of propylene were imported, while a year ago this figure was slightly more than 1.9 thousand tons.

In February, the import of the propylene copolymers exceeded 1.2 thousand tons against 1.1 thousand tons a month earlier, the demand for PP from the pipe manufacturers increased. According to the results of January – February of this year, the total import volume of PP-Random reached the level of 2.4 thousand tons, whereas a year earlier this figure was 1.6 thousand tons.

The total volume of supplies of other copolymers of propylene during the period under review was about 400 tons compared to 376 tons a year earlier.

Ukrainian imports of polypropylene grew by 3% in January According to the results of the first two months of this year, the total volume of imports of polypropylene (PP) to the Ukrainian market grew by 3% compared to the same period in 2017 and amounted to 18.7 thousand tons.
