On some positions, on the contrary, prices remained without significant changes in comparison with August, according to the ICIS-MRC Price Review.

Since August, in the Russian market of HDPE, the prices began to rise under the pressure of high seasonal demand and the lack of polymer production at the facilities of Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat and Nizhnekamskneftekhim. In September, the rise in polyethylene prices continued due to stops for the prevention of the two largest producers: Stavrolen and Kazanorgsintez, but the price increase mostly affected film and pipe polyethylene, while changes in other segments were insignificant.

Gazprom neftekhim Salavat stood for prophylaxis for much longer than originally thought. Simple capacity started from July 1 and was planned before the beginning of August, but, due to problems in the production of ethylene, the renewal of the production of HDPE occurred only by August 27. The long idle capacity in Salavat resulted in a shortage of natural pipe PE100 on the market, as the company is a key supplier of this polyethylene.

Despite the stable operation of Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat in September, the lack of supply of natural PE100 in the first month of autumn remained on the Russian market. The deferred demand in August and the absence of a similar polyethylene offer by Nizhnekamskneftekhim have kept a small deficit on the market. By the end of September, the natural PE100 went up to 98,000-100,000 rubles. per ton, including VAT, FCA.

Also since August, the prices of HDPE film have grown dynamically, in the last month of the summer prices for some items have exceeded the level of 100,000 rubles. per ton, including VAT, FCA. In September, the growth dynamics of film HDPE prices slowed, and by the end of the month the maximum price reached the level of 108,000 rubles. per ton, including VAT, FCA. Part of the situation in the film polyethylene market was saved by a serious increase in the volume of imports from Uzbekistan and Ukraine, and stopping the facilities of Stavrolen and Kazanorgsintez did not exert serious pressure on prices.

The injection and blow molded HDPE markets reacted relatively calmly to the September stops of the two plants. Sufficient stocks of both producers and trading companies allowed to keep prices from serious growth.

September stops for the prevention of the two largest producers of low pressure polyethylene (HDPE) did not lead to another wave of price increases on the Russian market.
