July 17, the manufacturer announced an increase in prices of 2 cents per pound from August 1. However, according to market participants, prices in August remained largely unchanged.<\/p>\n<p>Prices for US PS in July fell by 3-6 cents per pound (USD66-132 per tonne). Nevertheless, in general, the July PS prices fell by 5 cents per pound for the MSS \/ M (general purpose) and 6 cents per pound for the impact-resistant PS (UPS \/ M).<\/p>\n<p>The prices of the PS have recently been at the level of 100-110 cents per pound (USD220-2420 per tonne) for the brands PSS \/ M and UPS \/ M, DEL USA.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by the Market Report, AmSty lowered the prices of all brands of polystyrene (PS) in North America by 2 cents per pound (USD44 per ton) since May 1, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Among the major North American PS producers are Americas Styrenics, Group Idesa, INEOS Styrolution, Resirene and Total Petrochemicals USA.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC, in Russia the launch of the capacity of Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat (STS) for the production of polystyrene after the period of preventive downtime is postponed again. The total annual production capacity is 42 thousand tons. According to information from the manufacturer, the operating time of the material should begin on 21 August. Buyers expect to receive the first shipment of polystyrene on August 23-24. It is planned that the STS will sound the selling price of the material produced next week.<\/p>\n<p>Americas Styrenics is the largest PS manufacturer in the United States. The company has five PS plants in the country with a total capacity of 758 thousand tons per year. INEOS Styrolution, the second largest PS producer in the US, has a total capacity of 740,000 tonnes of substations per year. Total Petrochemicals ranks third in the list of leaders-producers of PS in the US.
