According to the results of the first half of this year, the total volume of imports of polyethylene (PE) to the Ukrainian market decreased by 4% compared to the same indicator in 2016 and amounted to 122.7 thousand tons. The demand for high-density polyethylene (LDPE) and low-density polyethylene (HDPE) has decreased.<\/p>\n
In June, external supplies of PE to Ukraine after the May surge were reduced to 22 thousand tons against 23,8 thousand tons a month earlier. Local companies have reduced purchases of HDPE and linear polyethylene (LLDPE). In general, in January-June total volume of external supplies of polyethylene reached 122.7 thousand tons against 128 thousand tons in the same period in 2016, only LDL and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) increased.<\/p>\n
The structure of supplies by types of PE for the period under review is as follows.<\/p>\n
Last month, a decrease in the import of low-pressure polyethylene into the Ukrainian market was recorded, excessive polymer supply in the market and expectations of the resumption of production at the Karpatneftekhim were the main reasons for the reduction in purchases in foreign markets. The total figure was 9.9 thousand tons against 11.1 thousand tons in May. In general, following the results of the first half of the year, the total volume of imports of HDPE reached 52.8 thousand tons against 62.7 thousand tons a year earlier, supplies of film PE decreased by almost a quarter, the need for injection polyethylene decreased by 12%.<\/p>\n
The June high-pressure polyethylene import indicator rose to 5.7 thousand tons against 5 thousand tons a month earlier, the main increase in deliveries fell on Russian manufacturers. During the period under review, the total volume of imports of LDPE exceeded 31 thousand tons, which is 1% less than the same indicator in 2016.<\/p>\n
Last month, external deliveries of linear polyethylene amounted to 5.7 thousand tons against 6.3 thousand tons in May, a slight reduction in demand showed the producers of film products. In general, in January-June imports of LDL increased to 31.2 thousand tons against 28.3 thousand tons a year earlier. The main increase in demand was provided by manufacturers of film products, in particular, stretch films.<\/p>\n
Import of other types of PE, including EVA for the period under review, amounted to 7.7 thousand tons against 5.6 thousand tons a year earlier.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
