The city signed a contract for a period of five years, which includes the collection of household waste and recyclable waste, as well as tracking of garbage cans every customer using RFID-tags attached to it.
\nLRS serves greater Chicago area for removal and disposal of waste over the past 17 years. The company began offering RFID in 2015, when incorporated into their work PAYT technology program for waste disposal with the payment. Under this system, every household pays according to how much waste is taken to a specific home.
\nPAYT system to use RFID-technology brought a little inconvenience to residents. They had to go to a local store to buy paper labels that are subsequently placed in garbage bins. People had to assess in advance how much they may need hee. When the tanks are emptied scavengers, they tore off the sticker. RFID allows users to give up the need to purchase stickers and attach them to the tanks each time the garbage.
\nThe unique ID number encoded to each RFID tag, and is related to its size and kind of waste: recycling or disposal. Besides the ID has the billing address of the customer.
\nOn the front panel of each garbage truck mounted RFID reader, so that when the tank contents dumped into the garbage truck, RFID reader captures the identification number of RFID tags. At the end of the day, when the truck is back on the waste management facility, RFID reader uploads the collected data to the tag via Wi-Fi, and each customer is automatically billed for disposal and waste recycling. RFID reader also saves time and date of each reading RFID tags with debris fence to provide confirmation process if necessary.<\/p>\n
<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
City of Wheaton is the latest municipality to adopt a system tracking waste tracking Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS), based on the RFID equipment.
