Spot prices of high-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) in Europe are under strong downward pressure, as sellers try to sell additional volumes of material to regular customers, ICIS sources told the market on Thursday.

At the end of February, a similar situation has already taken place, but on a more limited scale, but now more suppliers offer LDPE volumes at prices well below those discussed during the month.

So, in some cases, the price proposals were below EUR1,100 per ton, while some contract prices were above this level at EUR100 per ton.

LDPE became the next type of polyethylene (PE), which fell under price pressure, after the quotations of linear polyethylene (LLP) C4 fell last week.
