The contract price of ethylene in Europe for July deliveries was agreed at the level of EUR1,135 per tonne, which is EUR15 per ton below the level of June, several sources of the market told ICIS.
The contract price was approved on the basis of FD NWE (with delivery to North-Western Europe).
Two manufacturers and two consumers directly confirmed the agreement of this price, which is the minimum necessary configuration for the final agreement of the contract price.
Earlier it was reported that the contract price of ethylene in Europe for June supplies was agreed at the level of EUR1,150 per ton, which is EUR63 per ton higher than the level of May.
Ethylene is the main raw material component for the production of polyethylene (PE).
According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC, at the moment the European polyethylene market is balanced with a small shortage of HDPE. Buyers closely monitor the oil and naphtha market for July, which causes some indecision when buying polyethylene.
