Neftekhim LTD, the only manufacturer of polypropylene (PP) in Kazakhstan, has stopped the production of PP for downtime, according to the ICIS-MRC Price Review.

According to the enterprise’s customers, by April 26, the Kazakhstani manufacturer completely stopped the production of PP due to the interruption in the supply of raw materials from the Pavlodar refinery. The local refinery also suspended its operations due to a catastrophic drop in demand for oil products. The deadlines for the Pavlodar refinery to recover from forced downtime and the resumption of PP production by Neftekhim LTD have not yet been announced.

The enterprise Neftekhim LTD Company LLP was commissioned in 2009. At the Neftekhim LTD LLP enterprise, two production facilities are successfully operating: methyl tert-butyl (MTBE) and polypropylene. Polypropylene production capacities were launched in 2011 and amount to 45 thousand tons per year, while there was no granulation unit on it, the polymer was produced in the form of powder, which limited its scope.
