Omsk Polypropylene (PP) Plant Poliom, a joint venture between GK Titan, SIBUR and Gazprom Neft, resumed production after being shut down for scheduled preventive maintenance, the ICIS-MRC Price Review reported.

As the representative of the company, Polio resumed operating time PP on Thursday, October 11th, after the maintenance work. Downtime was short in comparison with other Russian manufacturers and amounted to 10 days (repairs began on October 1st). Annual production capacity is 210 thousand tons.

The start of Polioma after idle time was the first in the autumn cycle of preventive repairs of a number of Russian manufacturers. In particular, since September 19, Ufaorgsintez has stopped its facilities for a 30-day prevention program, since October 2, three-week repair work has begun at SIBUR Tobolsk, and since October 6, Stavrolen has stopped operating for polypropylene for a week.

According to ScanPlast Company Market Report, Omsk Poliom in August gained 19.4 thousand tons of PP against 18.7 thousand tons a month earlier. In the eight months of this year, production of PP at the Omsk plant amounted to about 148 thousand tons, which is 3% more than a year earlier.

Poliom LLC is a joint venture of Gazprom Neft, SIBUR and Titan Group of Companies, established in 2005 and one of the three leaders of Russian polypropylene (PP) producers. The plant, which began operations on February 9, 2013, was built using Basell technology, a supplier of technological equipment – Tecnimont – and is capable of producing 98 different grades of PP (homo-, stat-, block copolymers).
