Rescuers extinguished a fire at a solid waste landfill in the district center of Stry in the Lviv region for about seven hours, the press service of the Main Directorate of the State Emergencies Service in the Lviv region said.

“On December 18, at 13:30, the Rescue Service 101 received a message about a fire in the city of Stryi on Nizhankovsky Street. The fire occurred in the open area of ​​the municipal solid waste landfill,” the statement said.

According to the press service, the fire was liquidated at 21:03 on December 18. The fire destroyed the garbage with separate foci on an area of ​​2500 sq.m. Extinguishing the fire was complicated by strong gusts of wind. There were no victims of the fire.

23 firefighters and 7 pieces of equipment were involved in the elimination of the fire. The cause of the fire is established by the police.
