A large producer of polyethylene (PE) in Europe increased the price of high-density polyethylene (LDPE) and linear polyethylene (LDPE) by EUR50 per tonne for supplies in May, ICIS reports citing market participants.

One of the traders said that he had already sold his May volumes of material.

PE prices are stable in May with an uptrend, but high crude oil and naphtha prices may put pressure on the June ethylene quotes, despite sufficient supplies in this sector.

According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC, in Russia there remains a small drawback of the offer of LDPE for the production of shrink films. Against this background, there was a rise in prices for individual sellers by 3,000 rubles. per ton. In the market of butylene LDL this week the growth of the Russian material continued after the increase in the prices of the imported analogue. Some sellers have already sold off all their May quotas for LDL.
