Since January 1, 2018 Ukraine has undertaken to sort all garbage by types of materials, and also to divide it into suitable for reuse, for burial and dangerous. This is stated in Article 32 of the Law of Ukraine “On Waste”, to which the relevant item was added in 2012.

This clause corresponds to two EU Directives – 1999/31 / EC and 2008/98 / EC, which regulate waste management in Europe, provide a clear sequence of actions to be taken with waste, classify garbage, set a strategic goal to reduce waste, transport To landfills, reports “The Main”.

According to the Law on Waste, “waste processing is the implementation of any technological operations related to changes in the physical, chemical and biological properties of waste, with a view to preparing them for environmentally safe storage, transportation, disposal or disposal.”

According to the European standards, waste suitable for re-use must be sent to the appropriate enterprises, safe to be transported to landfills, and hazardous operations necessary for neutralization are carried out. At the same time, waste that is biodegradable (the norm of Directive 1999/31 / EC) can not enter the usual landfills.

The current Law of Ukraine “On Waste” does not have a list and sequence of operations with garbage. Under these conditions, the 2012 clause of Article 32 of this Law was added to become a declarative nature.

According to the Verkhovna Rada, in Ukraine on January 1, 2017 there were 29 722 settlements 460 cities, 885 local villages and 28377 villages. The Ministry of Regional Development does not investigate what kind of waste is sorted in Ukraine, and at what stage is the implementation of separate waste collection initiatives. Now our country does not have a single plant for complex waste processing.
