The May contract price of ethylene in Europe was agreed at EUR20 per tonne higher than the level of April. However, only in the segment of low-density polyethylene (HDPE), European manufacturers have gone to increase prices for the May supplies to the CIS countries, according to the ICIS-MRC Price Review.

Negotiations on the May supply of PE from Europe to the markets of the CIS countries started last week. But the increase in the cost of ethylene in the region led to an increase in the export prices of only certain types of polyethylene for buyers from the CIS. In the segment of high-density polyethylene (LDPE), manufacturers went for the prolongation of April prices.

Negotiations on May shipments of low-pressure polyethylene were conducted in the range EUR 1 020-1 100 per tonne, FCA, which is EUR 20 per ton higher than the April price level. Limitations on the May supplies from most manufacturers do not.

Prices of black PE100 also increased by EUR20 per tonne and were discussed in the range – EUR1 300-1 360 per tonne, FCA. Most manufacturers have serious export restrictions this month, and many companies have not been able to close their needs in full.

Transactions on the May shipments of European high-pressure polyethylene (LDPE) were agreed in the range EUR1,050-1,110 per tonne, FCA, which actually corresponds to the April price level.
