Researchers from China managed to find a formula with which you can create a polymer-like wood. It is extremely similar in quality to a conventional tree. However, it has more fire resistance, which can make it more in demand on the market.

Already for many hundreds of years the tree is one of the most popular materials in construction. Good quality and thermal conductivity, as well as low density, are responsible for this. In this regard, many researchers have set themselves the goal of creating a similar in quality material. In the end, the Chinese scientist smiled luck and they created an extremely similar material. But at the same time he received another distinctive feature – the new polymer wood has a higher refractoriness.

In order to achieve the desired result, the researchers took as the basis resole resin. Also, acetic acid and chitosan are added to the solution, after which the whole composition is exposed to liquid nitrogen. It is this step that leads to the fact that the polymers self-organize into a matrix similar to wood.

Obviously, the new discovery does not copy at all, but only resembles wood in its qualities. However, this is already the first step towards the creation of an artificial material capable of replacing a tree in the construction and creation of other products. And this, in turn, will improve the ecology of our planet.
