300 kg of garbage. Every Ukrainian throws out that much every year. And if in Europe they learned long ago to make money from garbage, in Ukraine only 3% of waste is recycled. Approximately the same amount is burned. And the rest of the trash goes to the dump. Then, as domestic processors buy recycled materials abroad.

In Ukraine, the sorting of garbage has not yet taken root. But there is still one full-cycle station in the country – Ukraine without garbage. Here the trash is sorted, pressed and sent to the suppliers.

The number of Kiev residents who are ready to carry bags of garbage here is increasing annually. But this is still not enough to interest large processors.

A plastic processing plant on the outskirts of Fastov turns bottles into polyfiber. Fillers for toys, clothes and pillows are made from it. But today the company does not operate at full capacity, as the raw materials are not enough. Plastic bottles in Fastow even brought from Africa.

Ukrainians should sort the garbage from the beginning of this year, when the Law on Waste came into force. But it does not work. Why? In the core ministry, the traditional excuse – no money.
