Prices for low-pressure polyethylene pipe (HDPE) have not yet been agreed in Europe in October, but buyers said that some sellers are trying to increase them against the background of ethylene growth of EUR10 per tonne, ICIS reports, citing market participants.

Buyers are not too concerned about such statements, because they have sufficient reserves, and the difference between the price of ethylene and HDPE is one of the most stable on the market of polyethylene (PE).

Buyers generally expect the September prices to remain, or even a small decline due to the seasonal factor.

Prices in Asian markets have stabilized, but it is expected that high prices for oil and naphtha will hamper a downtrend.

Earlier it was reported that the contract price of ethylene in Europe for October deliveries was agreed at the level of EUR1,145 per tonne, which is EUR10 per tonne higher than the level of September.

According to the ICIS-MRC Price Review, in Russia, sellers state a serious reduction in demand for HDPE pipe in October.
